Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon said that the XR device developed by Samsung will not be VR or AR glasses. Accordingly, it will offer a mixed reality experience similar to Apple Vision Pro.
Amon also left unanswered questions about whether it will be a standalone device. In his statement; He stated that the glasses will be designed to accompany smartphones. Accordingly, it will connect with phones and transfer augmented reality content directly to the glasses.
It was stated that Samsung wants to appeal to every smartphone user in this context and plans to sell smart glasses as accessories. Thinking that augmented reality glasses are still heavy, Samsung wants to combine the operation side with the smartphone.
Samsung wants its smart glasses to have a powerful artificial intelligence to process augmented content. However, CEO Amon believes that AI operations will take place both on the device and in the cloud. Google, on the other hand, is designing a dedicated Android platform for a reality experience across devices.
